How many ties to good food Catholicism has! We have traditional foods for many feast days. (Hence the word feast .) We have ethnic foods which are identified with, and feasting traditions which spring from, a nation's Catholic culture. We have the traditions of monasteries whose hospitality always included delicious if simple fare. We have food for liturgical seasons and foods traditional for funerals and weddings. One of the aims of Catholic homeschooling is the passing on of our religious traditions. What better way to do so than around the dining table!
Brother Victor-Antoine d'Avila-Latourette is the author of three cookbooks which bring us the riches of the monastery kitchen: Twelve Months of Monastery Soups, From a Monastery Kitchen - The Classic Natural Food Cookbook and In Celebration of the Seasons. A cookbook to go with virtually every holy day and liturgical season is A Continual Feast: A Cookbook to Celebrate Family and Faith.
Finally, for the beginning cook we have The Good Housekeeping Illustrated Children's Cookbook a great collection of easy recipes presented with lots of pictures to make learning easy.
