While it may be true that some students cannot learn to read phonicly it is certainly true that most can. It is also certainly true that most children (and adults) who have reading problems were not taught phonics. We present here a few good phonics programs for the Catholic Home School. The Little Angel Readers, to the extent possible, use a Catholic vocabulary. They are our most popular phonics texts. Close behind is Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons (DISTAR).  Both are recommended by Laura Berquist in Designing Your Own Classical Curriculum.
